Colour Reads Differently at Building Scale

Exterior colouring and consultation is a small line in our service list and a large source of regret when it is skipped. A colour selected from a chip under office light will read two values lighter and considerably more saturated across a four-storey elevation in Texas sun.

So exterior schemes get tested at scale: elevation colour studies first, then physical mock-ups on the building itself, reviewed at the times of day the building is actually seen — morning approach, afternoon from the parking court, evening under site lighting.

The same logic applies inside. The hexagonal carpet tile and citrus soffits on our Austin colour-block community look bold in a sample tray and read as cheerful rather than chaotic in a twenty-foot room, because the scatter density was set against the actual floor plate, not a swatch board.

Bold colour is not a risk. Untested bold colour is.
